TrueYardage ("we," "our," or "us") operates the TrueYardage iOS application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data with transparency.
Information We Collect
Location Data
TrueYardage requests access to your device's GPS location while the App is in use. Location data is used solely to fetch current weather conditions at your position on the golf course. We do not store, transmit to our servers, or share your location with any third party beyond the weather data provider necessary to retrieve current conditions.
Carry Distances (Locally Stored)
Carry distances you enter are stored locally on your device. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to us or any third party.
Weather Data
To provide adjusted yardages, the App sends your GPS coordinates to a third-party weather service to retrieve temperature, elevation, pressure, and humidity data. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests beyond the approximate GPS coordinates needed to identify current conditions.
Diagnostics and product improvement
At this time, the App does not collect usage statistics, crash reports, or other diagnostic data. If we introduce optional features to improve stability or diagnose issues in the future, we will describe them in an updated version of this policy and provide controls in the App where applicable.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information collected exclusively to:
- Fetch real-time weather conditions for your current location.
- Calculate weather-adjusted golf yardages within the App.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
Data Storage and Retention
TrueYardage does not maintain user accounts or a backend database of user data. All user-entered data (carry distances, preferences) is stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage mechanisms. Deleting the App removes all locally stored data.
We do not retain GPS coordinates or weather query data on our servers after a weather response is returned to your device.
Third-Party Services
TrueYardage uses a third-party weather data provider to retrieve current conditions. This provider may have its own privacy practices. We encourage you to review their policies. The weather provider receives approximate GPS coordinates but does not receive your name, email, or any other identifying information.
Children's Privacy
TrueYardage is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your personal information.
- Withdraw consent to data processing at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Since TrueYardage does not store personal data on our servers, most of these rights are exercised directly on your device (e.g., deleting the App removes your data). For any questions or requests, contact us at the address below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App and on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
